WIOA

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) helps job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.

The WIOA process varies from country to county but getting started is simple:

  1. Contact your local unemployment office for the next Orientation date. These dates may be available online or you can ask your local PSCD Career Advisor to assist you in finding them.
  2. Attend the orientation and complete an application for financial assistance. On this application, you’ll need to provide income information, your Social Security card information, birth certificate information, etc.
  3. If eligible, you will need to take the TABE test through WIOA. After completion of this test, you begin the intake process, are assigned a WIOA specialist, and pick a school. Please note this intake process can take several weeks so it is important to get started as soon as possible.
  4. Once you have decided to attend the Palmetto School of Career Development, our Career Advisors will assist you with the rest of the process.
